I was born in Truro, Nova Scotia and grew up in a small community. I started writing when I was a child and developed this hobby into a passion. In high school, I took Creative Writing and Journalism and was involved in several Musical Theatre productions.
Living in a small, isolated community had its advantages for me. I spent my alone time writing and keeping blogs. In February 2008, I opened Kill Jill Goes To College, a college blog. A few months later, I was invited to write for the myUsearch blog. After that, Maclean's OnCampus invited me to write a blog on their website. This blog became That's What Jill Said. I started taking photography seriously in 2008, the same year I started Journalism at Holland College in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I fell in love with the small city. The active music scene was something I'd never experienced before and I developed a passion for local music. On July 1st 2009, East Coast Overture was born. When I'm not writing, I enjoy watching movies, collecting vinyl records and quoting my friends when they say something hilarious. |
